This tutorial will explain how you can add your Bits on the Run playlist to the iTunes podcast directory and be discovered by millions of potential viewers!

(You will need to have iTunes installed for this tutorial as well as a iTunes Store account. If you do not have iTunes yet you can download it for free here, an iTunes Store account can be created from inside Itunes. When you go to the iTunes Store click the sign-in button at the top right which will allow you to create an account as well)

Step 1

First of you have to create a playlist on your Bits on the Run account, if you don't know how to do this please follow this tutorial first that will explain how to do so.

Step 2

RSS-feed link Once you have a playlist, find the URL to the RSS-feed from the CMS, which you can find in the publish tab when you select a playlist.

Step 3

podcast section The next step is to open up iTunes en select the iTunes Store on the left of the application, please note that you will need an active internet connection to access the iTunes Store (in case you intended to read this tutorial somewhere offline). Next go to the Podcasts section which you can select on the top-left.

Step 4

Add podcast button Now you need to go add your RSS feed to the iTunes Store, do so by clicking the "add podcast" button. You will then be prompted to login with iTunes ID if you haven't done so already.

After logging in you can enter your podcast URL, this is the RSS feed you looked up earlier in the CMS. Simply copy and paste if from the CMS and confirm the URL. You should then receive an email (might take some time) to confirm you podcast has been added to the iTunes Store!

Good luck and if you have any questions, remarks or other feedback regarding this tutorial feel free to let us know.

Hi I'm just not clear on the podcast feature. Does this mean when I upload a video to BOTR you store a QuickTime version (H264) and Flash version? Regards Guy Coburn

Yes indeed. We transcode your content to an MP4 file that can be watched on iTunes and on iPods.

Also note that all BotR feeds are out-of-the-box compatible with Miro (the opensource version of iTunes): https://www.miroguide.com/channels/submit
