Can a simple link be harvested?

I can harvest embed codes to display a player on a website, but if I want to embed a link to a video into text or a still photo, is that possible?

This is important on sites where there isn't space to support a player, or for items that work better as links in documents.

At the bottom of the embed codes forms, you will always find a preview link. They have this shape:

  • http://content.bitsontherun.com/previews/ ...

These links are publicly available and you can link to those from within small layouts or text-only pages.

Note that the Bits on the Run logo is not visible if you link to the preview pages from your own site.

Jeroen - thanks. I wish there was a way to send a link that would launch the end user's flash player - like windows media - but that doesn't sound like an option.

I'll use preview.

No indeed, that's hard since Flash is a plugin and no player.

What you could do is send a link to an MP4 file:

  • http://content.bitsontherun.com/videos/ ...

With most users, either Quicktime or VLC will be started to play these files.
