What conversions does Bits on the Run create?

Last modified on May 6th, 2008 for version 0.1

For each uploaded movie we immediately render a movie that has a width of 320 pixels. The height depends on the aspect ratio of the uploaded movie. This 320 video is rendered in FLV and MP4 format.

When our servers detect that a video is served within a larger player, we will automatically render a larger version, either with a width of 480 or 720 pixels.

Here's the technical specifications of all our conversions:

  • a 320px wide, 500kbps VP6/MP3 video.
  • a 320px wide, 500kbps H264/AAC video.
  • a 480px wide, 750kbps VP6/MP3 video.
  • a 480px wide, 750kbps H264/AAC video.
  • a 720px wide, 1000kbps VP6/MP3 video.
  • a 720px wide, 1000kbps H264/AAC video.
